Numerous reports have emerged that Telegram and VPNs have been blocked in Cuba. Access Now and the #KeepItOn coalition are calling for transparency, and to ensure internet and digital communications channels are secure, accessible, and open at all times.

Desde el 14 de octubre, han surgido numerosos reportes señalando que Telegram, una popular aplicación de mensajería, y algunas herramientas de evasión como las redes privadas virtuales (VPN), han sido bloqueadas en Cuba.

Muchos usuarios en Cuba han señalado que no han podido acceder a Telegram desde el 14 de octubre de 2020 y tampoco a algunas redes privadas neutrales (VPN por sus siglas en inglés) que permiten a los ciudadanos el acceso a estas plataformas, lo que podría mostrar un intento deliberado de las autoridades cubanas para restringir el ejercicio de derechos fundamentales como la libertad de opinión y expresión, así como el derecho de acceso a la información, a través de estos canales.

There have been numerous reports that Telegram is not working in Cuba. Many users have pointed out that they have not been able to access the application since October 14, 2020.

Access Now and the #KeepItOn coalition denounce the Tanzania government’s repressive measures to stifle fundamental rights and freedoms, and call on telecommunication service providers to keep people online in the build up to tomorrow’s presidential elections.
