Release Type: Open Letter

We urge the President of the Republic of Cameroon to ensure that the internet remains open, secure, and accessible to all before, during, and after the country’s upcoming elections.

We, the undersigned civil society organisations, write to express our concerns regarding the letters from Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) to X Corp and Meta, respectively, demanding the immediate removal of certain posts deemed critical of the Nigerian President. 

Vodacom must investigate Safaricom’s role in human rights abuses in Kenya, including data sharing with police and risks to user privacy and safety.

Nos dirigimos a usted, Comisionada Topsy-Sonoo, a la Comisión Africana de Derechos Humanos y de los Pueblos, y a los Estados parte de la Carta Africana, para que condenen las violaciones de derechos humanos cometidas por el gobierno de Guinea Ecuatorial, denuncien el prolongado apagón, y contribuyan a restablecer el acceso al internet en Annobón.

We are petitioning you, Commissioner Topsy-Sonoo, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and individual state signatories to the African Charter to condemn the Equatorial Guinea government’s human rights violations, the prolonged shutdown, and to help reestablish internet access in Annobón.
