Swedish telco TeliaSonera is taking further steps to remedy its involvement in corrupt business deals in Uzbekistan, most recently by Monday’s ousting of four senior executives.

Marie Ehrlin, newly-elected Chairman of the Board, told reporters at TeliaSonera’s annual shareholder meeting that the company would bring in outside help to review their operations “country by country, transaction by transaction, and deal by deal” after a year of bruising human rights and corruption allegations. For some, this response is not enough.

Amid allegations of corruption and bribery in Uzbekistan, Swedish telco giant TeliaSonera’s chief executive resigned today after an independent probe found faults with the company’s due diligence in securing the contract.
