Administrative and Communications Coordinator

Luis is the Administrative and Communications Coordinator at Access Now’s Digital Security Helpline.

He comes from several years of working as a communications advisor for human rights organizations in the Americas. As part of this work, he has supported anti-corruption organizations and women, youth, and LGBTQ groups to strengthen their advocacy and public outreach.

After relocating from Guatemala, his home country, he studied public policy at Berlin’s Hertie School and was a research assistant at Human Rights Watch. He is also the founder of Visibles, an LGBTQ advocacy organization, active since 2017.

A new report  by Access Now’s Digital Security Helpline, Espionage for repression: forensic analysis of a cross-border hack-for-hire campaign targeting civil society in MENA, exposes a hack-for-hire campaign targeting two prominent Egyptian journalists and government critics, Mostafa Al-A’sar and Ahmed Eltantawy, through a series of spear-phishing attacks.
