Laura Okkonen

Investor Advocate

Laura is the Investor Advocate at Access Now. In this role she supports the BHR Program in the overall targets to drive systemic change across the private sector, hold companies accountable when they fail, and protect the rights of users at risk. In her role, Laura is able to draw from her 20 years of hands-on working experience in the tech sector: prior to joining Access Now, she ran the BHR Program at Vodafone Group in London, UK, and prior to joining Vodafone Group, she was the Head of Human Rights at Nokia Corporation.

In addition to her role at Access Now, Laura is a doctoral researcher at Uni. Jyväskylä in Finland; her research focuses on hate speech identification through critical discourse analysis. Laura currently also serves as a member in the Finnish National Human Rights Delegation.
