Enrique Julian Gasteazoro Elizondo

Director of Communications and Engagement

Enrique is the Director of Communications and Engagement at Access Now. Before joining Access Now in 2022, he worked as the CEO of CONFIDENCIAL, a leading Nicaraguan public interest media outlet known for its narrative and investigative journalism. Following the outbreak of the ongoing political and human rights crisis in Nicaragua in April 2018, he focused on enhancing the impact and safeguarding the viability of independent journalism in the face of state censorship, repression, and challenging economic conditions, at the country and regional level. He previously worked with Dutch civil society on issues of economic empowerment, human rights, and responsible business in Central America. He holds an MPA from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he researched civil resistance and disinformation, as well as a B.Sc. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
