Holistic Security Lead

Alex Argüelles (they/them) is the Holistic Security Lead at Access Now’s Helpline. Since 2013, they have been researching digital violence and tech-enabled power dynamics that undermine human rights in Mexico and Latin America; incorporating the psychosocial perspective, within the horizon of transformative justice. As a Mozilla Fellow, they co-authored “Digital Violence in Mexico: The State vs. The Civil Society”, an anthology of reflections by digital rights defenders on access to justice amidst State sponsored technology-facilitated abuse. They are also a founding member of comun.al, a digital resilience lab based in Mexico.
